On This Day, 8th December 1982, the Mary Rose was brought into Dry Dock 3, joining HMS Victory in Portsmouth Naval Base not far from where she may have originally been built in 1510. Other than being turned upright in July 1985, this would be the last time the Mary Rose was moved; she still sits in the same dry dock today, our museum built over the site. In 1545, Henry VIII finally got a chance to test his cannon-armed warship with its revolutionary gunport design, in battle against the French.
