April 11th, 1989,Ron Hextall scored a goal in the NHL playoffs. What made the goal special was the fact that Ron Hextall became the first goalie to ever score a playoff goal. During the prior season, Hextall had become the first goalie to score a goal when he shot one into an empty net against the Bruins. The playoff goal was scored in a Flyers victory against the Washington Capitals. Hextall shot the puck from behind his own goal line and it traveled the length of the ice into the Capitals’ net
