At least 8,500 years old, this human statue head and torso is attributed to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic C period of ʿAin Ghazal, near Amman, Jordan. It is made of lime plaster over a reed core, and the surface preserves modeled facial and bodily features, though the statue remains disproportionately flat and hollow.
