Today marks the 83rd anniversary of the ‘999 system’- the oldest emergency call service in the world. To commemorate the anniversary, we’re taking a look at how the system as we know it today came about. Today, we all carry mobile phones around with us, but in the 1800s people would have to run to their nearest fire station to report a fire or find an Escape Conductor to call the Brigade.
