Today marks the 60th anniversary of The Staffordshire Regiment; formed of The South Staffordshire Regiment and The North Staffordshire Regiment in 1959 and amalgamated into The Mercian Regiment in 2007. The history of this Regiment date all the way back to Lillingston's Regiment in 1705 and The 2nd Battalion, 11th Regiment of Foot which was formed in 1756. Prior to its formation in 1959, ancestors of The Staffordshire Regiment had a rich history of battle honours; spanning across the West Indies
