Tajikistan - Pamir highway & Fan Mountains

Day one on the Pamir Highway started in Osh. We had around 185 km ahead of us to Sary-Tash — starting at just 985 m above sea level, with more than 2,600 m of elevation to gain along the way. This first section is often considered the “gentler” side of the Pamir. Mostly asphalt, though far from perfectly smooth, and busier than expected, with trucks and animals sharing the road.
