ONE PIN, THREE OPTIONS! What I love about the short game is that you can play a shot in multiple ways. When I’m practising my own short game, I’ll find difficult shots and challenge myself to play them in three different ways to improve my golfing IQ! 🧠 Let me know which shot you’d play in the comments below! . 9 IRON This was the safest option. ( THE ROUGH ) One of the most common mistakes I see in the short game is golfers either failing to rotate fully or not committing to their rotation. Even though it’s a shorter shot, fully rotating through to the target is essential. When done correctly, it helps you stay connected and improves club face control . IN THE HOLSTER A great way to check if you’re doing this correctly is by noticing whether your trail arm stays close to your body after impact. If it does, you’ve successfully put the c

( THE POWER OF RELEASE 1 🔥 ) The #Release1 chip & run shot is your bread and butter short game shot, and one you should master first. It has less spin and more rollout, which makes it the perfect shot to play when you have more green to work with . What’s great about this shot is that your technique stays EXACTLY the same each time, you only need to adjust your club selection to reach pins further away. . HOW I PLAYED THESE SHOTS: 1️⃣ Stood closer to the ball with a flat lead wrist 2️⃣ Used a 4

( SHOT DIRECTION ) Release 2 Soft Landing One of the most important things in golf is nailing your basics! Without them, the short game becomes incredible difficult as you will have to manipulate either your backswing or downswing in order to produce a good shot . RELEASE 2 BASICS Below are some of the basic for the #release2 soft-landing shot! 1️⃣ Stand slightly farther away with lower hands 2️⃣ Use a very light grip pressure (3/10 maximum) 3️⃣ Keep the loft engaged (what we improved in the vid

( TEMPO ) Improving control 📈 . All of the great short game players have world class tempo. However, it’s something many amateurs lack. When we grip the club too firmly and try to force a particular shot, it becomes much harder to control the club and perform under pressure… . TRAINING AID 💯 To develop our #release2 soft-landing shot, we played some shots with the flexible G-Force wedge. This is a great aid, as it forces you to swing smoothly - if you don’t, you’ll miss the ball! When done cor

Hold your finish!! I’ve coached thousands of golfers on my short game schools, and only a small percentage actually hold their finish - even though there’s so much to learn from doing so! Holding your finish helps you: 1️⃣ Learn the correct release point 2️⃣ Improve your tempo and distance control 3️⃣ …and it’ll make you look good 🔥 #dangrievegolf #shortgame #golfcoaching | Dan Grieve Golf

The % play The hybrid is a great club to use simply because it’s so forgiving. In scenarios like this, where the ground is firm and we’re dealing with large slopes, getting the ball running early is a great option. Here is how to play it: 1️⃣ Stand close to the ball with higher hands 2️⃣ Use your putting grip 3️⃣ Swing smoothly #dangrievegolf #golflesson #shortgame #thehybrid
