She's baaaaack!! Wisdom, the famous Laysan albatross, has just laid an egg at 74 years old! Wisdom, an inhabitant of the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, was tagged in 1956 after laying her first egg. While Laysan albatrosses have long lifespans, Wisdom is the oldest documented. Biologists estimate that she has had over 30 chicks in her lifetime. On June 12, cyclist and pilot Bryan Allen pedaled the Gossamer Albatross across the English Channel. The dream of human-powered flight was very publicly realized on that day! The Museum of Flight is home to the Gossamer Albatross II, the backup aircraft for the big day.
