Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced who will be Tua Tagovailoa's backup moving forward, choosing between Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers.

McDaniel cited his “incredible response mechanism with his play. Nobody wants to not throw interceptions more than Tua. To let it loose speaks to his mental fortitude, something franchise quarterbacks have to have to be able to flourish in the ebbs and flows of an NFL season. It was good to see him play quarterback very well and lead very well.”

Zach Wilson has been demoted to third-string by the Dolphins. The former Jets first-round pick will serve as the emergency quarterback Sunday against the Browns, according to NFL Network, with rookie Quinn Ewers elevated to the backup spot behind starter Tua Tagovailoa.
