Police are searching for more than 40 monkeys that escaped from a medical research facility in Yemassee, South Carolina, on Nov. 6. Forty-three Rhesus macaque monkeys broke out out of the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center on Wednesday afternoon, according to a Yemassee Police Department statement.

However, this is not the first time that the monkeys escaped the facility. In 2016, 19 monkeys escaped from Alpha Genesis and were captured almost six hours after their jailbreak, according to The Post and Courier, while 26 monkeys escaped in December 2014.

They are not infected with any disease whatsoever. They are harmless and a little skittish,” says the local police chief.
