Rob Blake is out after eight seasons as the Los Angeles Kings' vice president and general manager. The Kings announced a mutual parting with Blake on Monday, four days after Los Angeles lost to Edmonton in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

“As we did our due diligence, we identified Ken as the absolute best option and acted decisively to make him our general manager,” team president Luc Robitaille said in a news release.

Holland replaces Rob Blake, the Kings' general manager and vice president of hockey operations whose contract was not renewed after a fourth straight first-round playoff exit.
