Thousands of demonstrators from across the state gathered at the Connecticut State Capitol on Saturday as a part of the nationwide “No Kings Day” protests. Demonstrators gathered to share their disdain for the Trump administration’s campaigns of deportations,

The "No Kings" protests were scheduled in Connecticut as early as 9:30 a.m. in Canton and Glastonbury and could last elsewhere until 6 p.m.

Opponents of President Donald Trump’s administration are rallying in hundreds of cities during the military parade in Washington for the Army’s 250th anniversary — which coincides with Trump’s birthday.

The Hartford event is anticipating as many as 5,000 participants as individuals around the state plan to rally to defend democracy.

Thousands of protesters gathered at the Capitol in Hartford, and in communities across the state, to speak out against the Trump administration and acts of political violence.

The gathering in Hartford was peaceful, with no arrests, injuries or major incidents reported, according to Connecticut State Capitol Police.

Nationwide protests are expected across the country Saturday as part of “No Kings Day,” opposing the president's policies.

Protests will extend across the southwest and northeast corners of the state. Rallies are also planned in major cities including Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford.
