State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were shot and killed, and State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot and wounded in “targeted shootings” in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, two neighboring suburban cities 10 to 20 miles outside Minneapolis.

Thousands of anti-Trump protests are erupting across the United States this weekend under the banner of “No Kings” day, a coordinated movement aimed at pushing back against what demonstrators see as authoritarian overreach since the president returned to office in January.

The rallies were among hundreds of "No Kings" protests held throughout the United States, timed to coincide with a military parade celebrating the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army in Washington, D.C. Saturday was also Trump's 79th birthday.

The "No Kings" protests were scheduled in Connecticut as early as 9:30 a.m. in Canton and Glastonbury and could last elsewhere until 6 p.m.

Over 90 "No Kings" protests were taking place Saturday, June 14, across New York state as millions across the country are expected to take part in a "nationwide day of defiance."

Despite peaceful demonstrations reported in multiple cities, violence flared at some anti-Trump protests over the weekend.
