Chelsea’s leading goalkeeper target Mike Maignan reportedly rejected Manchester United’s initial approaches to focus on a move to west London. The Blues are thought to be closing in on a cut-price deal.

On Monday, Chelsea confirmed the signing of 19-year-old defender Mamadou Sarr from sister club Strasbourg for a fee of £12m on a deal running until 2033.

Chelsea will not revisit a deal for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan if the move is not completed before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. The Blues have been in negotiations with the Serie A giants for the French stopper as they haggle over a transfer fee.
