The Mayo Clinic is facing a lawsuit from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The suit claims the hospital refused to make a religious exception to its mandatory COVID-19 staff vaccination policy.

A lawsuit filed Thursday alleges the Mayo Clinic violated federal law when it refused a security guard's request to be exempt from getting the COVID-19 vaccine because of his religious beliefs.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit on July 31 in the U.S. District Court of the District of Minnesota.
