Djokovic won the 2023 ATP Tour Finals in Turin, beating Sinner 6-3, 6-3 in the final to avenge a round-robin defeat to the Italian. The victory crowned a superb season for Djokovic, who won three of the four Grand Slams alongside the Tour Finals. This year, he misses the event without an ATP Tour title to his name.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion is not present at this year’s ATP Finals, having cited an injury as justification for his absence. Sinner will have to be especially careful with Alexander Zverev, who is very well in indoor conditions thanks to his excellent serve and has just won the Rolex Paris Masters.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are poised to add another entry into their rapidly developing rivalry when the ATP Finals open Sunday without any members of the Big Three for the first time in nearly a quarter century.
