Folks ages 16 and older can now get free, one-on-one tutoring sessions to improve their literacy skills through the Lawrence Public Library.

Teaching methods have changed over recent years, particularly in the areas of reading and writing. The pendulum is swinging back, though, so phonics and cursive writing are turning up in lesson plans.

Any Oregonian with a young child in their life can easily sign the child up for the program, which has no income requirements or hidden fees.
