Most of the attention on President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda has focused on one agency: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which signed partnerships with hundreds of regional law enforcement groups and has drawn the ire of protesters nationwide.
In Norristown, immigration advocates urged all 62 municipalities in Montgomery County to enshrine policies that would limit police and local government cooperation with ICE.
More than 450 people were arrested by ICE at the Benton County Jail from Jan. 1 through Oct. 15, according to ICE arrest data from the University of California Berkeley Deportation Data Project analyzed by AP. That’s more than 1.5 arrests per day in the county of roughly 300,000 people.

A woman wearing medical scrubs was forcibly removed from her car by federal immigration agents in Key Largo, Florida, footage shows. During the incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, the woman could be heard shouting that she was a U.S. citizen as agents detained her.
Across New Orleans, residents had anticipated the operation, particularly immigrants. Some businesses had closed while others posted signs saying, “ICE not welcome here.”
