With veteran quarterback Derek Carr retiring due to a shoulder injury, the door of opportunity has swung wide open for the well-traveled, 26-year-old rookie from Louisville.

Shough was rated as the No. 113 overall player and the No. 7 quarterback in the draft class by Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. The Saints were much higher on Shough as they made him the third quarterback off the board at No. 40 overall.

Derek Carr is retiring from the NFL, which means the Tyler Shough era in New Orleans is coming sooner than expected.
