The NTSB is set to unveil its findings about what caused a door plug to blow out of a Boeing 737 MAX jet in midair last year.

The NTSB had previously said that four bolts which were supposed to hold the door plug in place were missing when the Boeing 737 Max jet was delivered to Alaska Airlines in October 2023.

Boeing knew of the deficiencies in its work instructions for a decade, the NTSB said in its report, but both Boeing and the FAA failed to fix the flawed process.

Boeing's (BA) on-the-job training was inadequate, the NTSB said, adding the company is working on a design enhancement that will ensure the door plug cannot be closed until it is firmly secured.
