Microsoft has announced the rollout of new AI-powered features in Paint and Notepad for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11. These updates introduce enhanced tools aimed at boosting creativity and productivity, with a particular focus on generative AI capabilities.

But that’s starting to change. Earlier this year Microsoft brought a spell checker to Notepad and started adding AI features like background removable to Paint. Now the company has released previews of several new AI-based features coming to the MS Paint and Notepad applications.

Microsoft has started testing AI-powered Notepad text rewriting and Paint image generation tools four decades after the two programs were released in the 1980s.

After all these years Notepad and Paint continue to prove they are a staple to the Windows operating system. Both provide quick and friendly features that allow users to jump right in and create new content without weighing down the system.

Currently available to Windows Insiders in Windows 11, Microsoft's new AI-powered Rewrite feature will help you fine-tune your prose in Notepad.
