The ILA posted the following statement about its Master Contract on its Facebook page:

The union representing 45,000 striking U.S. dockworkers at East and Gulf coast ports, including the Port of Virginia, have reached a deal to suspend their strike until Jan. 15 to allow time to negotiate a new contract.

A historic United States port strike has been suspended and a tentative agreement has been reached after a three day stoppage.

On Oct. 3, the ILA released a statement that it had come to a tentative agreement with the United States Maritime Alliance Ltd. and will extend its six-year master agreement with the organization, which expired on Sept. 30, through Jan. 15, 2025 ,while the two parties return to the negotiating table.

The International Longshoremen's Association and the United States Maritime Alliance have agreed to extend the previous master contract setting wages and employment conditions until January 15, 2025.

Dockworkers are returning to work on Friday after reaching a tentative agreement and Vice President Harris says, "this indicates progress towards a strong contract."
