After starting Tuesday morning in the middle of an East Coast road trip with the Rangers, Leody Taveras got the start Wednesday in Sacramento with the Mariners.

The Rangers called up outfielder Evan Carter from Triple-A Round Rock to replace Leody Taveras, who was acquired by the Mariners on a waiver claim on Wednesday. Seattle will now assume the remaining balance of Taveras' $4.
