Arsenal face rivals Tottenham in the first ever pre-season north London derby held outside of the UK today at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong. Viktor Gyokeres could be set to make his Arsenal debut having joined the club from Sporting CP in a deal worth up to £64m on a five-year contract.

The Spurs midfielder scored the game’s only goal in the 45th minute, spotting David Raya off his line and lobbing him from a long, long way out. There was a decent tempo to the game in the first half but both sides lost their rhythm a little in the second.

Even in the modern Premier League, where the default body type is fearsome Übermensch, Gyokeres stands out. His introduction at the top of Arsenal’s attack gave Tottenham’s defenders far more to think about and having seemed fairly comfortable throughout before Gyokeres’ introduction.
