A band of thunderstorms moves through the region around and after dinnertime. A few storms could be strong. Once that cold front moves through late Saturday, we’ll see cooler weather in time for Sunday with lows in the 30s and highs in the 40s. We are entering what will be the most active February winter storm pattern since 2021. The first several days of February were pleasant after an exhaustingly cold January, but we're about to be thrown for a loop in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, a swath of the Central and Eastern U.S. was under winter weather advisory, which the NWS issues "for any amount of freezing rain, or when 2 to 4 inches of snow (alone or in combination with sleet and freezing rain), is expected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning."

CBS News New York's John Elliott says Friday will be sunny, but snow will move back into the region on Saturday night and then again on Tuesday night.

Winds will be gusty Thursday into the evening, while the next snow producer is on the way for the first half of the weekend
