CLEVELAND, Ohio — Second baseman Travis Bazzana, the overall No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft, is being evaluated by the Guardians for an injury that forced him out of Wednesday’s game for the Class AA Akron RubberDucks. Bazzana was not in Akron’s lineup on Thursday against the Chesapeake BaySox.
For now, here are three candidates who could take Lively's spot in the Guardians' rotation while Lively is injured. Let's start with a pitcher already on Cleveland's big league roster: Joey Cantillo.
But instead of middle-of-the-rotation arm, Lively has been Cleveland's best pitcher this season. His 0.8 bWAR leads the rotation and trails just players on the team overall, behind Steven Kwan (2.4), Gabriel Arias (1.1), Jose Ramirez (0.9) and Hunter Gaddis (0.9).
