The fire broke out in the building's basement after a snowplow collided with a utility pole along Indian Head Road just outside the rink, according to rink owner Richard McGuigan.
It was a close call on Saturday when a 60-pound German Shepard fell through the ice on the northeast end of Smith Lake.
