After a tumultuous 48-plus hours, the Jacksonville Jaguars have officially announced former Buccaneers OC Liam Coen as the team's next head coach.

Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expect OC Liam Coen will be offered the Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach job.

Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen is believed to be one of the leading candidates for the vacant Jaguars head coaching position as he prepares for a second interview with the team. Coen, 39, is set to have his second interview on Wednesday, and he could be offered the job as soon as then, the Tampa Bay Times reported Tuesday .

The Bucs tried reaching out to Coen and his camp Thursday, but did not hear back as the coach traveled to Jacksonville to finalize the deal, ESPN's Adam Schefter added. Coen eventually got back to Bucs head coach Todd Bowles to inform him of the interview with Jacksonville, Schefter followed up.

Owner Shad Khan's decision to retain general manager Trent Baalke after the team fired head coach Doug Pederson was viewed poorly in early January. In the weeks since it has turned into a near-catastrophe that resulted in Baalke's firing on Wednesday.

Coen will be the Jaguars’ fourth different head coach in five years. In 2021, Urban Meyer was hired to resurrect a struggling franchise. Due to numerous factors, he was dismissed after 13 games and a 2-11 record.
