Two teenagers are in custody after a multi-county chase and assault on a State Highway Patrol trooper over the weekend.

Two North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers, Sgt. Garrett Macario and Sgt. Matthew Morrison, have been suspended amid an investigation into their credibility, resulting in the dismissal of 180 DWI cases.

One person was killed in a crash on the Interstate 485 Outer Loop in Mint Hill on Tuesday, Medic confirmed. Multiple agencies responded to a crash along the outer loop near Exit 44 around 9:30 a.m. Medic said one person was pronounced dead on the scene and confirmed the victim was not in a vehicle at the time of the crash.
