First came a push from the Malaysian premier, then China reached out, but it was only after President Donald Trump called Thailand's leader last week that Bangkok agreed to talks with Cambodia to end an escalating military conflict.

Cambodia and Thailand will continue with mediation talks to resolve their border dispute at an upcoming General Border Committee (GBC) meeting scheduled to be held in Malaysia later this week. The GBC was part of a ceasefire agreement between the two countries at a special meeting in Putrajaya on July 28.
