Sen. Josh Hawley secured a second term representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate as he attempts to reshape the Republican Party.

Republican U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, among former President Donald Trump's most loyal supporters, won reelection Tuesday in Missouri by fending off a challenge from Democrat Lucas Kunce.

Sen. Josh Hawley will be returning to D.C. in January. The Associated Press called the Senate race with about half of Missouri votes counted.

Josh Hawley defeated Lucas Kunce in a race for a Missouri U.S. Senate seat, the Associated Press reported. Hawley, the Republican incumbent, wins his second consecutive six-year term for the Senate seat.

Since joining the U.S. Senate, Hawley has struck a populist tone, abandoning previous opposition to anti-union “right-to-work” laws and minimum wage hikes. He has defended his decision to object to the certification of the 2020 election.

The Republican won his re-election fight Tuesday night, defeating Democratic challenger Lucas Kunce to secure a second term in Washington.
