Grokipedia, xAI'sAI-powered online encyclopaedia, is now live. Version 0.1 features an extremely basic white-text-on-a-black-background look and stripped back page layouts, plus more than 885,000 articles.

In a tweet that remained pinned to Elon Musk’s X profile as of Tuesday morning, the billionaire describes his motives for launching the new site: “The goal here is to create an open source, comprehensive collection of all knowledge.

Grokipedia launched on Oct. 27 and was designed by Elon Musk to host more far-right political views than the "woke" ones that Wikipedia is claimed to host.

Grokipedia’s design is pretty basic right now; like Wikipedia, the homepage is mostly just a big search bar, and entries resemble very basic Wikipedia entries, with headings, subheadings, and citations.

As Elon Musk tries to attract users to his online AI-powered encyclopedia, Wikipedia is leaning into the human qualities of its database.
