The World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers announced they have committed $1 million toward assistance for families of immigrants affected by the recent raids, as well as plans for further initiatives that are to be unveiled in the coming days.

The team said it had committed "$1 million toward direct financial assistance for families of immigrants impacted by recent events in the region."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has condemned the "illegal militarization of Los Angeles" and called on Trump to rescind the order. In a lawsuit filed in federal court, Newsom said Trump "unlawfully bypassed" the governor in installing the National Guard in an "unprecedented power grab."
