The Nashville Predators sold off two more assets, defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Tommy Novak, and acquired another draft pick.

Nashville, Tenn. (March 5, 2025) – Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has acquired forward Michael Bunting and Pittsburgh’s fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft from the Penguins in exchange for forward Tommy Novak and defenseman Luke Schenn.

Pittsburgh president Kyle Dubas wanted to make his moves before Friday’s NHL trade deadline because his Penguins play that night in Las Vegas. He’s off to a decent start. The Penguins made a move Wednesday night by sending winger Michael Bunting and a 2026 fourth-round draft pick to the Nashville Predators,

The Predators lost both games in New York over the weekend, a 7-4 loss to the Islanders and a 4-0 loss to the Rangers. Nashville (21-32-7, 49 points) remains in seventh place in the Central Division, four points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Bruins have dropped six of their last seven and now have two points and three teams standing between them and the final playoff spot.
