A crash investigation was underway after a Canadian freight train collided into an Amtrak passenger train in southwest Memphis over the weekend, officials said.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are heading to Memphis after a Canadian National Railway Freight train collided with an Amtrak train Sunday morning.

Two people were reportedly injured after trains collided in Westwood on Sunday morning. The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene on West Shelby Drive and Sewanee Road at 11:41 a.m.
