After a week of ACC play that included several upsets, the Pitt Panthers have the opportunity to surpass expectations.

The win was SMU's first against an AP top-10 team since the Jan. 1, 1983 Sugar Bowl against Pitt and first at home since 1974.

PITTSBURGH — Pitt Panthers true freshman running back Ja'Kyrian Turner set a new career high in the 35-20 win over the Stanford Cardinal. Turner led Pitt's offense with 127 rushing yards at a 5.8 yards per carry clip,

The No. 7 Yellow Jackets (8-1, 5-1 ACC) also are no longer in first place in the ACC standings after the loss, falling behind No. 15 Virginia (8-1, 5-0), who defeated California 31-21 to move to 5-0 in conference play this season.
