A California man and a dog were rescued on Wednesday after spending the night trapped in a crushed pickup truck along a highway, California Highway Patrol said.

A driver who spent 22 hours trapped in a crashed pickup truck with his dog was rescued after a passerby spotted the crash, California authorities reported. The driver crashed off Highway 89 north of Calpine in Sierra County at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release.
