NASA is sending the first Black and first female astronauts to the moon in an upcoming launch, marking the first journey to the moon in over 50 years.
NASA's Mike Fincke has identified himself as the astronaut whose medical condition prompted the space agency's first medical evacuation.
NASA astronaut Mike Fincke revealed that he was the person who experienced a medical issue that led to the crew's early return to Earth last month.
Fincke, 58, is a Pennsylvania native with a wife and three children. He joined NASA in 1996 and is now a veteran of four spaceflights: Expedition 9 in 2004, Expedition 18 in 2009, STS-134 in 2011, and most recently Expedition 74, for which he served as commander.
