San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk is still unable to practice more than a year after his knee injury. Also sidelined is second-year receiver Ricky Pearsall.
Ferrell and trade acquisition Keion White will be the new blood on the 49ers defensive line, moves that were made even more necessary with the 49ers’ placing defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least the next four games. The 49ers (5-3) face the Giants (2-6) Sunday at MetLife Stadium. (CBS, 10 a.m.)

49ers first-round pick Mykel Williams out for season with torn ACL on eve of NFL trade deadline
The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly lost Mykel Williams, their 2025 first-round draft pick, for the season with a knee injury. A day before the NFL trade deadline, will the Niners add help?
The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed OL Brandon Parker to the practice squad. In order to make room on the practice squad, the team released OL Andre Dillard.
Williams, the Niners’ first-round pick (No. 11) in April, was injured late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, with San Francisco leading by 17. Coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that the team feared Williams had torn his ACL. Testing on Monday confirmed the diagnosis, the source said.
With an eye on improving those numbers, the Panthers made a move on Wednesday, signing outside linebacker Trevis Gipson off the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad.
