Governor Wes Moore assessed the Westernport area after heavy rain left roads flooded and homes damaged. He said it is going to take federal and state funding to get the community back together.

Heavy rain over hilly and mountainous terrain quickly triggered serious flash flooding in parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Flooding in rural western Maryland has forced the evacuation of an elementary school as downtown homes and businesses have been inundated with rising floodwaters in Westernport.
