The Boston Red Sox landed an All-Star caliber third baseman over the offseason, but he was almost a Detroit Tiger. He spoke about the decision earlier this week.

The Sox, who had won two in a row and four of their last five, would certainly benefit if Brayan Bello can go deep into Tuesday‘s game. He didn’t give up a run in his most recent start against the Rangers on Thursday, but he went just 4⅔ innings as he issued five walks during an 83-pitch outing.

After being limited to six total runs over the weekend, they sent 14 hitters to the plate and scored nine times in the third inning and didn’t stop, putting the Red Sox to rout, 14-2 before a fired-up crowd of 20,136 at Comerica Park.
