Texas Senate, House unveil budget proposals, each just over $330 billion
The Senate version ( Senate Bill 1) calls for a total of $332.9 billion in spending from all funds, state and federal, with roughly 70% coming purely from state monies. The House version ( House Bill 1) includes slightly more, $335.7 billion in total spending. That puts both versions roughly on par with the current budget cycle.

There's also about $6.5 billion in additional money for property tax relief on top of what was passed two years ago. That may include what the Senate has proposed, which is an increase in the homestead exemption from $100,000 to $140,000 for most homeowners. For seniors, the exemption would rise from $110,000 to $150,000.
