The Missouri Attorney General petitioned the United States Supreme Court Wednesday to file a complaint against the State of New York over Donald Trump’s recent criminal conviction - in part arguing the state infringed upon the right of Missouri voters to hear from a presidential candidate.

Missouri attorney general Andrew Bailey is suing New York for prosecuting and sentencing former president Donald Trump amid the 2024 race, arguing his historic hush-money conviction constitutes “lawfare” against a political opponent.

The decision by the court’s liberal majority, delivered four months before the November election, reverses a ruling by conservative jurists two years ago.

The decision was a win for Democrats who argued the practice of allowing voters to file ballots into the secure boxes made voting more accessible.

A divided Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday cleared the way for voters to be able to return absentee ballots through drop boxes, with the court's new liberal majority overturning a decision from just two years ago that had outlawed the practice.
