Nick Martinez took a no-hit bid into the ninth inning before allowing pinch-hitter Elias Díaz’s double and Spencer Steer hit three home runs, leading the Cincinnati Reds over the San Diego Padres 8-1.

While Martinez hung his head, the Padres celebrated as pinch-hitter Elias Díaz reached second base following his double off the wall in center field in the ninth inning. They would also get to celebrate a runner crossing the plate, as Taylor Rodgers, another former Padres pitcher, walked in a run before finishing off an 8-1 Reds victory.

In the fifth inning of Friday's game against the San Diego Padres, Reds infielder/outfielder Spencer Steer hit his third home run of the game. Steer is the first Cincinnati Red to hit three home runs in a game since Jesse Winker accomplished it in 2021.
