During an appearance on Thursday's edition of ESPN's "First Take," former player and current analyst Jay Williams had nothing but high praise for Wembanyama after his stellar showing against the Mavericks.
In an interview on "First Things First," Olajuwon revealed that he initially believed Wembanyama was only joking when he mentioned training with him. After all, the All-Star already had a diverse skill set that allowed him to bring the ball up himself, shoot three-pointers and even score inside.
In the Spurs' regular-season opener against the Dallas Mavericks, Wembanyama simply eviscerated his competition. He went into volcano mode and spewed 40 points on 15-of-21 shooting from the field, 15 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
