The National Hurricane Center's 5 pm Sunday advisory reported that, with sustained winds of 35 miles per hour, Gordon has downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression. Tropical Depression Gordon is 1115 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands, with maximum sustained wind of 35 mph. It’s moving 8 mph to the west.

The National Hurricane Center is watching an area off the North Carolina coast that has the potential to become a tropical disturbance early next week.
