A federal appeals court ruled in favor of NASCAR on Thursday in the sanctioning body’s ongoing legal battle with Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports. The Fourth Circuit of Appeals in North Carolina overturned an injunction that allowed the teams to race as chartered teams as their lawsuit against NASCAR proceeded.

Denny Hamlin says he is unfazed that a three-judge federal appellate panel vacated an injunction that required NASCAR to recognize 23XI, which he owns with Michael Jordan, and Front Row as chartered teams as part of an antitrust lawsuit.

In a significant legal win for NASCAR, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on Thursday vacated a preliminary injunction issued last December by a trial court judge that allowed 23XI Racing, owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, and Front Row Motorsports to race with the benefits of charters without having to release claims.
