Putin tells Azerbaijan leader Russian air defence active at time of plane landing: Kremlin
MOSCOW, Dec 28, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Russian leader Vladimir Putin told his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on Saturday that Russian air defence was active when an Azerbaijani Airlines plane tried to land in Grozny before it crashed, the Kremlin said.

"The heads of state exchanged condolences over the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane, which had Russian and Kazakh citizens onboard among other passengers, near the city of Aktau on December 25," the press service said in a statement.
