Evacuated residents are waiting in their cars for hours to get permission to return to Los Angeles neighborhoods devastated by the Palisades Fire, which has been burning for three weeks and destroyed thousands of homes and other structures.

With the burn area nearly fully contained, final evacuation orders stemming from the deadly Palisades Fire were lifted, allowing residents Tuesday to return to their properties, but another death tied to the fire was confirmed.

The bodies of Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and Arno Quinton Els, 36 — who had gotten engaged three weeks before their deaths — were discovered on Dec. 26 at a resort in Hội An Trump on Tuesday rolled back the 60-year-old Equal Employment Opportunity executive order.

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,448 acres after being active for 20 days. A crew of 1,043 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 94% of the fire by Monday afternoon. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

About 1,600 policies for Pacific Palisades homeowners were dropped by State Farm in July, the state insurance office says.
