Canadian consular officials are pressing for more information from the US government after a Canadian citizen died while in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a Florida detention center this week.

The death of Johnny Noviello, 49, came as ICE agents have made sweeping arrests across the United States as part of President Trump’s crackdown on immigration. The cause is under investigation.

Johnny Noviello, 49, who became a U.S. permanent resident in 1991, was found unresponsive while being detained in Miami pending removal proceedings, ICE said.
